Description: Lempuyang Temple, also known as Pura Luhur Lempuyang, is one of Bali’s most sacred and oldest temples. Situated on Mount Lempuyang, the temple offers spectacular views of Mount Agung framed by its famous gates, often referred to as the Gate of Heaven. The temple complex consists of seven sanctuaries spread across different levels of the mountain, making it a significant spiritual journey for many visitors.

History: Lempuyang Temple dates back over a thousand years and holds significant importance in Balinese Hinduism. The temple’s name is derived from the Balinese words “lampu,” meaning light, and “hyang,” referring to a deity. The climb to the top, with over 1,700 steps, symbolizes a spiritual journey of purification. The temple’s gates have become iconic, often photographed to create an illusion of a gateway to heaven.
